First Day by Zarann Shastri

You shouldn't get too nervous about anything.

It was my first day in middle school and I felt very scared. The second my friends and I landed in the school campus we all were feeling that we were lost in New York city and everybody else were very busy to even notice us. I could feel my heart beat going at 100 mph! The 7th and 8th graders were going to their classes in the building; only the 6th graders were puzzled and we didn't know what class to go to. I was very stressed because I couldn't even open my locker without anyone's help. Lucky the vice principal showed us which direction to go to and gave us a map of the school showing us each and every classroom info.

The school gym was double the size compared to my old elementary school. The coach was very mean and made us run two miles on the track on the first day of school we also got another locker especially for gym clothes. I was very rue that we didn't get any recess and we can get homework on the weekends!

There were many higher grade students who were fighting in the hallways, jamming, and slamming lockers but then I realized that this was very normal to this school. We got a period to do our homework too, and that was a very good thing because I can now finish my homework and school.

The lunch was amazing compared to the lunch in the elementary schools almost everything was available there and we could get pizza everyday while in elementary school you can only get pizza on Fridays. Now I was starting to realize that middle schools not that bad after all and I can survive it. When I went to my next classes they were going to help us open our lockers and also teach us how to open ours on ourselves.

I didn't even know and school ended me and my friends were heading to our bus to go to home. After that day I never get nervous about any apparent reason and try to keep myself calm all the time. After looking back I feel it was a very bad reason to get nervous and now it has become a daily routine to me and i'm not nervous anymore.
